slate floor resealing

by Nick
(Slidell, Louisiana)

Question:
I bought a house with slate flooring, It really looks good, but I have a problem. The slate is a blueish gray but is turning yellowish geen. I want to remove the yellow, but don't know how. I had someone look at it a few years ago, and he tried a few different removers on it, and he found one that worked. He wanted $1,500.00 dollars to remove it and reseal it, but told me to wait until the weather got a little cooler. Well Hurricane Katrina came, and I never got it done. I have no way of getting in touch of him, and he would not let me know what kind of remover he used that worked. I have called many floor people in the area, and they have no idea how to remove it. I am hoping you could help, the floor is beautiful underneath the yellow. If you could help let me know.

Answer:
Hi Nick,
Please go to this webpage, http://www.ntc-stone.com/images/uploads/Yellowing.pdf
it does give reasons why this may have occurred, my advice to you would be to call Fred or an advisor at NTC-STONE.COM, they will give you the answer to this question & they will advise you of different remedies to try first & it wont cost you $1500 either.
