Slate Fireplace

by Chris
(Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada)

Question:
I have installed cement board around a fireplace and plan on using slate on the wall and build the hearth. I am planning on using thinset for setting the slate on the floor for the hearth but what is the best way to attach the slate to the wall?

Answer:
I would suggest you bond the cement board first & then use a super grip wall adhesive.

I presume you will be using the fire beneath your fireplace so my advice would be to take a trip to your local tile store & ask them which adhesive they suggest for area's that get hot, there will be different types so be sure to get the right one.
