clean slate

Question:
Hi was wondering why after washing slate floors, our feet still get black? Does it mean it needs to be resealed? Hope to hear from you soon. Thank you.
Answer:
I tell you what Tanya, that's a new one on me, you must have a very soft slate or it was dyed before you bought it. Has the floor been installed long, have you used a black grout?, generally Stone will not bleed it's colour, unless it is very soft & chalky, I would find out from a professional tiler or tile store what the best product on the market is in Australia for sealing a slate floor, it may be worth re-sealing, I would do a test on it to see.
1. Fill an egg cup with water
2. Pour this on to your slate floor
3. If it beads in to droplets like it would
running down a glass window then its fine.
4. If it sinks in after 10 minutes then I would
give it a new coat of sealer.
Good Luck!!!
